Prior to shipping, your plant(s) are removed from their pots and any loose, unnecessary soil removed. The Espoma Organic Plant Foods may be used at anytime. Best to fertilize in early spring, and again in mid fall - avoid feeding standard chemical fertilizers during hot summer months, and directly after transplanting. Other granular fertilizers with a 6 - 12 - 12, or 10 - 10 - 10 ratio can also be used - but we suggest using them at 1/2 - 3/4 strength to avoid any chemical burn issues to the root system of the plants. However, a water soluble type plant food (Miracle Gro, or equivalent ) are also acceptable options. We personally use, and recommend the Espoma line of organic plant foods, as they are super effective yet gentle enough to use on even the most delicate of evergreen species where fertilizer burn would normally be a major concern. Fertilization / Feeding : For maximum health & hardiness, we highly recommend a good grade granular ( preferably organic ) fertilizer / plant food for use with all of our plant species. Deer Resistance Rating : Lowest Resistance Highest Resistance Recommended Spacing : Spacing of approx 2 1/2 feet apart is recommended for most privacy screen or border plantings. The occurrence of both Phomopsis, and canker can be more prevalent if conditions are overly moist / wet. Regular yearly inspections are recommended to monitor any possible problems.
Diseases / Insects : Phomopsis blight, canker, and Cedar Apple Rust have all been spotted on this variety.as is the case with most any J. Flower, Cone, Or Berry Facts : None to mention Minor bronzing in winter months in colder climates. Foliage Color & Texture : Evergreen - very light green to yellow base, with nice bright yellow outer foliage. Soil Preference : Average to slightly acidic & sandy - well drained. Sometimes has trouble dealing with high heat & humidity, as well as high night time temperatures. Growth rate, and foliage density will both suffer slightly when planted in shady locations.

We choose to grow Skyrocket, and market them as such, due to the fact that Skyrocket was the first of the two varieties ( Skyrocket & Blue Arrow ) to be introduced & developed. We noticed absolutely NO distinctions between the two, no differences to speak of whatsoever. We have grown specimens that were labeled as both Skyrocket, as well as Blue Arrow - multiple specimens of each, and all were grown within close proximity to one another. Our opinion / stance on this subject is that the two names are synonymous, and both pertain to the same plant variety. There are several opinions as to whether there is any difference between the two varieties, or whether they are even two separate varieties at all. There is much confusion out there in regards to the Skyrocket juniper variety versus another variety called Blue Arrow Juniper. Beautifully elegant for use around large entryways, gates, or even just to hide that old gutter downspout. The tallest, narrowest juniper out there. It's a very striking, dramatic plant when used as a cluster planting against a large fence or building or in formal plantings. Its short, compact, silvery blue foliage is evergreen with virtually no change from season to season. This plant has a tall and extremely narrow, columnar growth habit.
